Who we are
You do not have to stand at the threshold alone.
At the Threshold of Life Foundation is a Maryland-centered nonprofit being built to connect people with practical resources, meaningful learning, creative expression, and pathways toward stability and growth.
People arrive at thresholds through hardship, healing, discovery, caregiving, education, grief, trauma, or the decision to begin again. We offer a safe place to be seen, a caring presence beside you, and a connection to what comes next.
To serve with care. To protect dignity. To remain present. We listen before assuming, connect before duplicating, and respect lived experience.
Emotions are information, not identity. A threshold can mark an ending—but it can also become the place where a different future begins.

Darlynn brings together advocacy, caregiving insight, writing, reflection, resource navigation, and community-building. Her work honors the person behind the struggle—not only what happened to them, but who they are, what they carry, and what remains possible.

This autobiographical work is a journey through memory, identity, family, silence, survival, truth, healing, and discovery. It is written so readers can see the scenes, feel the emotional landscape, and recognize the ways a life can continue unfurling after pain.
The book and the Foundation share a central truth: our stories hold information, but they do not have to become the limits of our identity.

Potential deserves a chance to be discovered.
Some young people have never had the opportunity to learn what they are good at, meet someone working in a field that interests them, or gain the practical experience that can open a door.
Our developing youth initiative will connect under-resourced youth and young adults with caring people willing to share their time, trade, profession, experience, or skill. Through mentorship, career conversations, demonstrations, job-shadowing, hands-on exposure, and connections to training opportunities, we want to help young people recognize their strengths and explore realistic pathways forward.
